Toodles!Įdit: Apologies if my initial thoughts are a bit critical. The best takeaway from this is a perfect example of what I wouldn't want to do to my players.Īnyhow, off to start another run with team because their mechanics easily trivialize the fight. I have zero interest in encountering previous (Chap 3+) bosses again due to how uninteresting and limited they are. Unlike the bosses from dd1 which you could basically lock on farm if you wished. Getting into the ground because you didn't puzzle-solve the encounter just makes for, IMO, a shallow experience. It's not even that I feel smart for losing. Wouldn't be much of an issue if each later run didn't take an hour plus to attempt again. Without knowing anything, chapters 3, 4, and I assume 5's bosses are crafted to, in most cases, result in the player's defeat on the first attempt. Yes, we know this game is supposed to be brutal, but there's a difference between brutal and respectful of a player. My takeaway from after that is just, w hy would someone then not just look up the fight online to better ready themselves? Before you nod and agree that is absolutely an option, I've personally never looked up fights in DD1 excluding the final dungeon given that one mechanic on leaving.Īfter playing dd1 and feeling like there was waaaaay more range on which parties I can bring for whatever boss, I can't feel but slightly disappointed and confused. Without getting into spoilers, I knew I was done within the first two turns given how the boss's mechanics were so obvious. I was absolutely doomed from the start with Runaway, Vestal, Jester, MAA, and Leper. After my experience with chapter 3's boss (which I've been seeing the most feedback/rants on and rightfully so), I was expecting something similar, but sheesh this was just silly. In chapter 4 just got smoked by the boss. You can find mods for the game on Steam Workshop and .Īn overview of the game's patch notes can be found here.Ībout 60 hours in.
